Masato Yokosawa ran deep in this year’s World Series of Poker Main Event. With hundreds of thousands of fans, he came into Day 7 with 3,175,000.
Unfortunately for him, his Main Event ended in brutal fashion.
Yokosawa had built his stack up to about 5 million when he tangled with Daniel Vampan for it all.
The hand history: Dominating hand falls again
At blinds of 125,000/250,000/250,000, Vampan raised to 550,000 with AsQh from the lowjack. Yokosawa three-bet to 1,700,000 from the cutoff holding AhKs. Back on Vampan, he moved all in, covering Yokosawa’s effective stack of just over 5 million.
Yokosawa was in a great spot to double up and win the pot of nearly 11 million. The cards had other plans, though. But, ace-king hasn’t faired well against ace-queen deep in the Main Event this year.
Right in the window was the devastating Qs. Yokosawa did have hope with the QsJh3s flop, now looking for a king or a ten to take back the lead. The running deuces left him with the worst hand and his chips shipped over to Vampan.
The popular Japanese YouTuber was eliminated in 45th place for $188,400.
Yokosawa’s YouTube prowess
The Japanese poker player and YouTube star has done much to grow the game in his home country and beyond.
Masato “World Wide” Yokosawa boasts 781k subscribers on YouTube. According to him, the majority of them are from Japan, though he’s hoping Main Event coverage can earn more followers from other countries.
