Day 1c of the 2023 Main Event was a busy day with around 3,080 players entering to take their shot at what is very likely to become the largest Main Event in WSOP history.
At the end of the day 2,326 players (~ 75% of the field) were able to find a bag and advance on to Day 2.
The largest stack after Day 1c was Christopher Brammer of Southampton, England who bagged 386,100 which was almost 100,000 more than the second largest stack. Brammer is a very experienced player with over $2 million in career earnings.
A look over the counts reveals a few notables among the big stacks, including Connor Drinan who bagged 217,700, Josh Arieh with 181,200 and Michael Wang 171,800.
Also of note, PokerOrg’s own TJ Reid bagged over double starting stack with 130,000

Former main event champions had a great Day 1c as Joe McKeehen, Tom McEvoy, Scott Blumstein, Espen Jorstad and Ryan Riess all were able to advance on to Day 2. Koray Aldemir was not able to have such luck as he became the first former champion to be eliminated.
Feature table action
Day 1c PokerGO feature table action saw Daniel Negreanu featured but he was not able to get a lot going as he hovered around 20,000 and 35,000 throughout the stream and finished the day with 25,900.
One of the other players at the feature table was Shelby Wells, who was the penultimate woman standing last year with a 97th place finish. She played in some interesting pots and got her stack up to as high as 140,000 at one point but ended up losing a large chunk of it before the table was moved off stream where she would then bust before the end of the night.
The last feature table of the night had Jeremy Ausmus featured which included a hand where Ausmus very nearly had a straight flush Vs quads situation when his opponent flopped quad sevens and Ausmus needed the 9 of diamonds on the river for the straight flush. The 9 of hearts came instead to make for a decent sized pot but not the headline-grabbing one that it could have been. Ausmus finished the day with 60,300.
The total amount of entries is now up to around 5,200, meaning that over 3,500 players are needed to register on Day 1D to break the all time entry record of 8,773 set in 2006.
