Has James Obst usurped Patrik Antonius’ long-held title of “Best-Looking Man in Poker”?
After a few years away from the game, Obst has returned with a new look. Already, there’s been a bit of buzz around the World Series of Poker this summer regarding Obst and his appearance. It’s not a crazy transformation, but the shaved head and ditching of the glasses make a big difference.
PokerOrg’s Tiffany Michelle caught up with Obst ahead of the Day 4 restart in the $50,000 Poker Players Championship to discuss the attention he’s been receiving and how he’ll navigate the rest of the tournament.
It’s good to hear that the comments aren’t going to Obst’s head just yet, he’s staying humble in the face of potentially taking the title from Antonius. Let’s hope Antonius doesn’t take it too personally.
And the comparisons to Adrian Grenier’s character Vincent Chase in Entourage certainly have merit, in fact, it’s actually a pretty crazy doppelgänger situation.
Obst goes on to say that in order to make the final table of the PPC, he’ll have to run better than Josh Arieh. That’s a tough task for any player, but Obst clearly knows a thing or two about running hot.
