There are hundreds, maybe thousands, of players making their way to Las Vegas over the coming weeks for their first trip to the World Series of Poker. It’s likely that none of them are as well-known or recognizable as Jim Jefferies.

The Australian-born comedian is in Las Vegas for two nights on his Give ‘Em What They Want Tour and decided to hop into the $1,000 Mystery Millions NLH event.

The crossover between comedy and poker is not uncommon, just take a look at Joe Stapleton’s career or the late, great Norm Macdonald. So, it stands to reason that Jefferies could be the newest joker in the deck.

While Jefferies has serious chops as a comedian, here at the World Series, he’s just another guy trying to find a bag for Day 2. That doesn’t mean that Jefferies is drawing dead, however. In the home games he hosts back in Los Angeles, Jefferies does well, though he’s quick to point out that his competition isn’t nearly as tenacious.

PokerOrg’s Tiffany Michelle caught up with the famous funnyman to hear about his first experience at the WSOP. Clearly, he’s no stranger to telling bad beat stories.

The outcome may not have been ideal, but, hey, Jefferies got his chips in good and that’s all you can do in this silly game we play. And, despite Jefferies unfamiliarity with American gun culture, there’s always bullet number two.
